As previously stated some submission can take a reasonable long time to
be finalised by the search engines. No matter what their individual
policies each uses the same three basic procedures. These are. . .
- Sending The Spiders: - After you've submitted
your site the search engines use programs called "web crawlers" or more
commonly "spiders" (for more about these see "Next:
Traffic and Link Building" to search the HTML code of your
website. It can take
a while for the spiders to reach you and it is important not
to panic if your site has not been ranked within a week or so. It does
not necessarily indicate that your SEO efforts are off track but is
more likely to be that you have yet to receive your 'spider' or haven't
been indexed by the search engine so far (see SEO for Profitable Niche Marketing.
)
- Indexing: - Once the spiders have checked your HTML they
will record your site within their database index. This
does not mean that your site has been compared to others for content
(ranked) but does mean that the process is ongoing and the Search
Engine is aware of your sites presence.
- Rankings: - Once indexed there will be a further
delay
before your site is eventually listed and ranked in the search results
for your chosen keywords on the given search engines.
So as you can see the process of submitting your website can be
prolonged. However, if you have followed the lessons learned from
Profitable
Niche Marketing Business
then you can be confident that you have optimised your site for this
process and subsequent ranking. Similarly using a high quality
submission product, such as
iBusinessPromotor
can be very advantageous.
Both during the submission process and
subsequently, you will need to develop your own traffic
tracking
toolbox. In the next module we will see how to build the traffic to
your site and how to monitor your traffic growth (or not as the case
may be).
